Yes. We often have a custom sized canvas created specifically for our client’s needs. Just let us know what size you desire and we will provide you a no obligation quote.
Completion time depends on the complexity of the piece and my current workload. Typically, portraits take from 2 to 4 weeks, from start to finish. The majority of our work is done in oils, which is a very slow drying pigment. If your need is a quick turn-around, you may consider having your custom art created in Acrylic rather than Oil.
I can create portraits from high-quality photographs, and also offer live sittings for a more authentic experience. Live sittings typically take approximately 4 hours. I do color studies and take mulitple reference photos and complete the art back at our studio in Wisconsin.
You may take your photograph to a local copy shop and have it scanned to digital format. Optionally, you can provide us with a “photo of photo”, a digital photo of your hardcopy photograph. You could even send your hardcopy photographs to our address through regular mail. Additionally, we are available to travel to your location to do a photo shoot.
You may choose to work with a professional photographer to capture a series of reference images. If so, please ensure the photographs are not copyrighted, allowing us unrestricted use. In cases where the subject is no longer with us, I can assess available photos and determine their suitability for reference. Over the years, we have successfully created full-color portraits from aged, black-and-white, and even damaged photographs, restoring cherished memories with artistic precision.
I specialize in traditional art mediums such as oil, acrylic, watercolor and graphite and charcoal, ensuring each portrait is crafted with precision and lasting beauty. We additionally are trained in graphic arts using Wacom Tablets with a stylus.
