How we got started painting murals.

The year was 1996 (or thereabout), when we were asked to paint the hallways leading to the classrooms of a local church in Charlotte, NC. (This wasn’t the first mural we painted but this is the mural led us to be able to start creating art full-time.) The hallway walls were your typical white and for children, somewhat uninviting. They requested we paint a “Noah’s Ark” theme with all the animals in a kid-friendly manner, somewhat realistic yet playful enough not to scare the children. These images are from that project.

Veterinary Clinics.

After painting the mural shown above, we were approached by a Veterinarian asking us to bid on painting animals on their walls. Here are some images of murals we painted for Veterinarian clinics.

Turret Stairway Ceiling

Just off the foyer of this 20k sq ft home is a circular stairway with walls of cast stone which leads your eyes upward where you will see this copper-leafed cone-shaped ceiling. Our clients wanted scenes from around the gated community painted around the perimeter of the ceiling, with a peak 54 feet above the foyer floor below. Custom scaffold was built for us to stand on while we painted this mural and applied the glazed copper leaf.

Sun room Ceiling

This client requested that we paint landscape scenes inside the panels that surrounded the ceiling.

Mono-Tone Murals

We have had many requests for subtle murals painted in shades of one color. Here are some examples.

Church Class Room Hallway Walls

Parents at this church would drop their children off for their Sunday morning class at a welcome desk. The problem was that when the parents left the children would be led down a very long sterile hallway which was somewhat frightening especially for new-comers.

We proposed a four season mural covering all wall surfaces with scenes of children playing and having fun. We were told this made all the difference in the world.
